It was in the early hours of the morning that Marshall Craddoc and a squad of the Office of Marshall's armed response unit brought in the man claiming to be Justinian. They had stripped him of his armour and manacled him, but strangely had not removed his crown. The prisoner seemed to be taking it equably, however, and apparently surrendered peacefully. It remains to be seen what the Office of Marshalls, and the Closed Council, plans to do with him.
For more than a year now Union humanitarian aid workers have been supplying food, shelter and medical supplies to the sick and starving Surface-Dwellers of the City-Fragments. Above the heads of the great carvings of the Founders a sink of poverty and degredation has been allowed to grow, but the Union has established schools and hospitals and it is the efforts of the people of the Union that will give these people back hope and dignity.
Little Timmy here is an example of the lives that have been saved by Union aid. Timmy's mother works fourteen hours a day in one of the many Surface-Dweller's farms, growing crops and vegetables for the Citizens within. Only a tiny handful of that food remains on the surface though, the majority disappearing below into the demanding mouths of the well-fed Citizens of the interior. Sadly even less of that food made it onto the plates of Timmy and his mother.
A year ago Timmy was brought into a Union run clinic, his limbs wasted into spindles, the ribs of his stomach showing clearly through the slack skin of his shrivelled stomach. Union physicians kept him alive then and Guild carried food from the Union restored his strength. Now Timmy runs errands for the postal workers from the Union who fill his imagination with the wonders that exist beyond his slum.
It's men like Captain Slavo of the Misthorse who are leading the way to a better tomorrow for the people of the City-Surface. The tireless efforts of the captain and his crew, transporting a neverending stream of food and medicine from the well-stocked Guild warehouses of the Union to the ad hoc landing sites of the City-Fragment, keep a hundred grateful children healthy and hearty. At every landing they gather round the Misthorse, a marvel of Union ingenuity, laughing and cheering in happy expectation of the latest gifts this marvellous man brings to brighten their hard lives.
When we work together we are strong enough to overcome any obstacle, even the suffering brought about by the neglect of those who do not understand the value of unity.
Marshall Craddock has been touring the Union with Tacotta Rjanslaf, one of the senior figures in the Confederacy's religion. Though apparently it's all harmless, numerous people were highly disconcerted to see one of the major figures in the Union's crimefighting organisation helping the Confederacy spread their religion to Union citizens. Grand Cleric Arabella Crimson declined to comment.
Sarr and Hawthorne have made some real progress in the variety of sicknesses afflicting the clans of the archipelago. Between them they have been looking into the illness of the Forge Fathers, Clan Varuja and the Jade Vale. The are being heralded as the great healers of the Archipelago, giving relief to those who suffer in a colony that has no institution to deal with those who are sick.
People fear that there is something they are not being told. The air seems to be filled with tension, like they high ups are planning somthing, and not telling the common man.
