The Assassination of the King of Bone

The group (Valk, Unity and Bezeth) meet as planned with the King of Bone in neutral territory. The figure which turns up is clearly not the King of Bone, but the group play it cool so as not to raise suspicion. They sign peace treaties, promises of non-retribution - nothing which really matters to them.

They then carry out Valk's plan. Bezeth is hidden in a false ceiling above the court of the King of Bone, with the sword. Valk and Unity sneak and fight their way in respectively, dodging traps and fighting bone warriors. They make their way to the court of the King of Bone, a vast cavern containing rich silks and tapestries, presided over by a tall, emaciated figure sitting on the throne in the centre.

“The real King,” Unity whispered.

Valk and Unity sneak around the cavern until they're in advantegeous positions, then shout “Now!” and Bezeth leaps from the ceiling down onto the King of Bone, sticking the sword right through him. He screams horribly and seems to crumple in on himself. The body crumbles into white power.

The bone warriors, unlike those seen in Neverdark, are not zombies dependant on the life of their master. They move against the trio and suddenly their position doesn't look so good. Unity races for the door, to be caught by bone warriors, which she fights her way past suffering severe injuries, but making her way to the door and out of the court and the City. Valk tries to sneak away without fighting but there are too many warriors and he takes severe damage. Bezeth fights her way out, easily destroying Bone Warriors, but the performances of the Circus have made her a recognisable figure and she hears shouts of “Bezeth! It's Bezeth! Don't let her leave the fragment!”

Despite this, rumours are spreading quickly among the City and making their way onto the Surface. Valk's name is the one most people are aware of, and hostility towards the Tillermen is spreading.
