Congratulations to the party who went to fight the Black Lightning and returned with some sky pirates. Clearly a first-rate intelligence job. Who else would have mistaken a bunch of no-hoping fanboys for the greatest Storm Mage of the time. Mind you, they did bring back prisoners and ships, so clearly not a complete failure.

In a year's time, the Union will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Councils are holding a Grand Fair of Union Might, Ingenuity and History. Foreign dignitaries will be granted attendance pending Guild registration, and are welcome to come and sample all the best the Union has to offer.

The Jade Vale and Evelyn Minver have made communication between the ferrymen better. Currently they will hand deliver a message anywhere in the Union, or the Surface of the City fragment, the central office of the Jade Vale, and a sorting office on the city surface, means they can deliver letters directly.

They do also deliver to the Fallen and Confederacy, however once the messages get to the colonies they must be passed onto local courier services. However it is rumored sorting offices in the other colonies are not far away. Indeed plans to build a sorting house in the fallen are currently underway.

A group calling temselves the Black Lighning crew has attacked the city. Defenders from all the colonies help defend the city from vicious attacks, and it is expected that the defenders will give a full breakdown of the operation at the temple meeting.

The island of the infamous hermit and warlock Ala-Nappi has re-surfaced after many years. The tiny forested fragment, well known for its uncannily skull-like shape, is now drifting in the outlands nearest to the Union. Travellers report that a black flag (symbolizing recent plague) flies there, though none dare set foot.

Ala-Nappi was known as untouchable for fear of the consequenses. If he has succumbed to plague, then there may be rich pickings from what he blackmailed out of people… as well as the secrets of his art.
