Upon reaching the Fragment of Two Temples Valk claps his hands together with a sharp clang. There is a deep rumbling within the fragment, the trees of the jungle rustling furiously, then a moment's silence. Seconds later the earth explodes around the party and they find themselves borne skywards on the top of an enormous metal head. Below them they can see the earth bursting apart as veins of iron ore tear themselves from the ground, shedding their impurities as they fly towards the ascending group, forming themselves into a vast torso that stretches for hundreds of metres before shifting into crude legs which rise from a crouch to lift the party almost five hundred metres above the ground. Valk is grinning delightedly as he sweeps his arms frantically back and forth, a mad conductor creating a symphony of crashing, grinding metal. With a final gesture he points down at his feet and the iron blinks open like an eyelid allowing the adventurers a quick climb down into a cavern inside the Iron Titan's eye socket. Valk gestures again and a set of jutting outcroppings emerge from the floor forming what may be the Broken World's least comfortable attempts at a sofa. As they rise up into the air, they can clearly see the Titan of Bones. They acknowledge each other, and start to charge at each other across the jungle. Time seems to slow down, and the party brace themselves, the titans draw together, until with a crash. The Iron Titan swings a massive fist, splintering the other titans rib cage. The Bone Titan retaliates, and swings its leg beneath the titan of Iron, taking out its legs. It falls, and the party prepare for the impact as the Iron Titan lands on its back, knocking the wind out of the Party. Pressing it's advantage, the bone titan tries to stamp down on the party, with a massive foot. As it is about to crush the dismounted party, a hand of iron shoots out and grabs the descending foot, giving the party a few precious seconds get out the way. The Iron Titan gets up and begins to grapple with the Bone Titan, the party take the opportunity to begin to scale the Titan. Acting like a well oiled unit, using the bones as hand and foot holds, pulling up the ones behind, and giving a leg up to the ones in front, the party positivly run up the bone titan. I'm thinking something like the bit 6-8min on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA0VTvpwpLk but with less ridiculous physics, and climing the titan rather than trying to catch the flying thing. With an epic feat of strength Sarr throws catequill up, as Catequil draws his blade. Catequil draws his blade over the back of the titans skull, it clacks and splinters, the light in his eyes go out, and the titan crumbles to a pile of bones. Back on the back of the Titan, the party can see much more of the fragment, and it is clear the crater they were in last time was only a small part of the Network trenches connect the craters. If eomantic energy can be directed through all these trenches, then it should unlock the temple of Gemancy. See the attachment for a diagram of the trenches. Valk knows as a geomancer that the flows can only be directed down a trench once, in one direction. A crater to the north acts as a source (A), and one to the south a sink (C). Quickly you realise that it is impossible to create a walk travelling through each trench only once (I persume you quickly work it out, its pretty easy to prove), but you think you can put in 1 trench without destabalising the network.
Valk peers down at the trench network below, rubbing at a painful looking bump on the back of his head.
“Remind me to put some sort of paddin' up here; ain't much fun getting tossed around when the big fellow takes a tumble.”
Turning back to the rest of the group he crouches down and draws his finger across the floor, leaving deep grooves in the iron. Eventually having drawn a rough copy of the trenches below he pauses for a moment and draws one more groove. Then he grabs around for his water skin and empties it into the source crater.
“This look right to everyone?”
“That looks good to me Valk. You think you could get your new… um, friend to do the digging, or is it important that we do it ourselves?” asks Quill, a slight nervousness apparent in his voice when talking about the Iron Titan.
“The trench looks right. A slightly unimaginative route but I'm sure it will do the job from what you've said. Assuming that this thing has the fine control not to do any damage then I'm sure he will be fine doing the digging, right?”
“I didn't become a master of the earth just to have to do diggin' myself, that's for damn sure.”
Valk reaches into the party loot bag and withdraws a handful of beer bottles.
“Now let's kick back whilst the big boy here does the work”
He tosses out the bottles to his friends and settles down on one of the iron settees. Outside, the great giant drops to one knee and its hand morphs into an enormous garden trowel as it gets to work, carefully scooping out the new trench.
Valk then turns to the business of directing the Geomantic flows, a little haphazardly, he eventually gets the hang of it, and begins to direct them. When they reach the end, the fragment cracks, opening like a clam, revealing a castle. As they go in, they find themselves in a long corridor. Along one side is a large mural detailing a history of the fragment. It starts off with a picture of a much bigger fragment, with a group of happy citizens tending their fields, and quaint cottages, with smoke coming from the chimleys. The creatures don't appear to be human, looking similar in stature to Zwerginn. The next scene shows the same fragment cracking, inside one of the huge cracks is a big splinter of metal, that seems to glow faintly. The next scene is a smithy, where the splinter of metal is being melted down and fashioned into a helm (like the one Quill picked up in the spirit temple). The next scene has a king if full armour with a small retinue of troops standing in a throne chamber, the intricate helm on his head, bursting into the hall is a group of vicious looking soldiers. The picture clearly represents the king as the good guy, and the invading troops the bad guys.
The next scene shows a coffin, with the relief of the dead king of the last scene on it. In the background, the fragment has shattered completly. In the last scene, the fertile land has turned into desert, and the creatures have thier faces covered. They look just like modern Zwerginn.
At the end of the coridoor is a throne room like that in the picture. In the throne room are 4 objects, they are on plinthe, with stone clams either side. There is a nuber of items, which on inspection you work out the function of.
Valk picks the apparently ordinary rock, as he picks it up, the clams snap closed. Breaking off from the clams come a number of small rocks, which begin to follow you around, and can be ordered about.
Catequil takes the rock, as well as all of the other relic they have collected, he ties them into the ties that bind relic, as the party begin to call the DM for the first time. they hold the rings towards the relic, Passion, Spirit, Storm, Mist (and Geomancy), DM we need you. Lines of light spread across the stone, and it begins to unfold, before them stands a man.
“Phew, that was geomancy was exhausting.
But if I am going to help heal this Broken World I need to know how to move the fragments, how to bring them together so that people can come together.
When the children of the Moonfleet clan fell ill with the Rotwurt Grub, it was the geomancers who saved the day, bringing much needed medicine and averting disaster.
We need more men and women like that, so kids, why don't you start learning geomancy now? Talk to your parents or an adult you trust about getting a mini-training fragment and have them begin to teach you how to work it.
