Confederacy News Turn 11

Tensions in the Confederacy

This was the season when things turned bad for the GPR in the Confederacy. The season started with massed protests in Earthborne lands, claiming that the GPR have been a continued mockery of Confederacy traditions and values ever since they joined. Though these are mollified by Earthborne leadership but nonetheless there is a strong undercurrent of resentment throughout the Earthborne.

This attitude seems to have spread throughout the Confederacy. The O'Sheas, in light of caution from their member states, an existing Ferryman boycott of the GPR, and apparent GPR involvement in the attack on the Dixies this season, decide to halt all trade with the GPR. The Earthborne have backed this move, stating that although they don't want to make war with the GPR, they will back the O'Shea's move as legal and fair, with force if necessary.

Just when it seems it can't get much worse, it does. Reports come in from the Earthborne settlements of attacks from ships flying the GPR's colours, raiding settlements and destroying trade transports. Earthborne citizens call for military reprisals, only barely held in check by their leaders. Even so Acolytes of the Temple of Ancients have issued statements that the GPR are heretics, and seek to undermine the most basic traditions of the Confederacy. According to them, anyone who attacks the GPR need not face any reprisals; they are fair game.

A Perfect Duality

Screw the Fallen! Bunch of half-hearted windbags, the lot of 'em. That Ella May has sacrificed her lover, her cousin, her children and even her humanity in her religious quest. It may not be my god, but that's dedication
- Tacotta Rjanslaf

The spiritual guidance of Ella May is unparalled. The seasons have seen her build up a religious furore that puts the Church of Founders to utter shame, and now seems to be reaching its culmination.

My fellow jazzy people
Soon you shall see a new trinity
A trinity of the source, the dark and the light of Jazz
I, as your main representative, shall bring light to the darkness
Whereas Matthias shall bring shadow where there is light
Light and Dark
Black and White
Day and Night
Destruction
Creation
The Spirit of Jazz
The source
The Alpha
The Omega
Anarchy baby!

Exploits of a Dragon

The dragon Name has been officially banned from every bar in the Broken World!* Following the great fire at the Gloucester Arms and the damage the ensuing fireball caused, it has been decided by publicans and bartenders that large fire-breathing creatures which cannot handle their alcohol should not be allowed to enter licensed premises. Bezeth of the Circus would surely have been very apologetic for the actions of her companion had she been able to stop laughing. The hero of the hour was, of course, the woman known as Flux, who single-handedly rescued many of the unfortunate victims trapped inside the flaming building and who coaxed the dragon outside with the promise of more tequila after it showed a disturbing inclination to bathe in the flames.

*Except a few obscure ones who haven't heard about her yet.

Racing Fragment Upgrades

The feud between the Earthborne and the Crystal Collective seems to have waned, while war flares up everywhere else. Once more Alric Earthborne and Navigator Chtoth have worked together to expand the Racing Fragment fleet into a fast Anti-piracy patrol force.

“I am less concerned about a fair division of geomantic energy between fragments for this endeavor, we will concentrate on maximising the number of fast fragments we can create from the limited number of donor fragments we can find.” - Chtoth

Finding those high energy fragments is still the concern, substantial rewards are being offered to potential fragment hunters for a promising find.

Storms at Stormwatch

Large amounts of activity within the storms have been centered around the recently recovered Stormwatch fortress as of late, and a metal spire seems to have been added, which only serves to attract the storms more. Just what are they doing there? Then again, that thing is supposed to be built on top of some place of great significance to the storms…

The Spider Queen

Like a phantom is she, black as night,
Her devlish twin blades that do whirl and flash.
With each new stroke she shows her fiendish might.
Her terrible aspect both bold and rash.

Many a great foe felled by her hand.
None is there who does not know of her fame.
Her tale is recounted throughout the land
And the storms and the mists both fear her name.

What might yet unfold remains to be seen,
In the tale of Bezeth, the Spider Queen.

S'no Problem

A terrifying blizzard has gripped parts of the confederacy rendering travel extremely hazardous and grounding several trade vessels. So far no casualties have been reported. The origin of the strange weather patterns seem to be centered on the King of Winter's dominion.
