Greying and covered in scars, the once powerful Marlik the Godless is a man posessed of extraordianry religious zeal. Believes that the mists are to be worshipped, lest your fragment fall into them forever. An exellent speaker, he has gathered about him a group of people willing to follow his teachings and do his bidding. His goal is to spread Mist Worship throughout the Archipelago, believing that it is the only way to prevent the Sinking. Before finding Faith in the Mist, Marlik was a bloodthirsty pirate. When something changed him, he abandoned his crew on a sinking fragment, hoping the Mists would accept his sacrifice and wash away his sins. They escaped and are now out for blood.
Fighting 1 (+2): Marlik was a formidable fighter, but years of wielding a book rather than a sword have left him rusty and his reflexes outdated.
Charisma 3 (+9) + Specialty: Proselytizing (+1) + Specialty: Lies (+1): Marlik has a gift for the spoken word, having an almost supernatural ability to convince his followers of anything he wants.
Clan Influence +3 (+9): Marlik is the unquestioned leader of The Church of the Mist, who believe him to be a prophet of the Mist.
Rival (-2): Crimson Ley (see below) considers his teachings incorrect and not the true Faith. If the chance presents itself, she will attempt to take control of the Church by casting Marlik into the Mists. (See Clan NPC page)
Skeleton in the Closet (-3): Before finding faith in the mists, Marlik was a notoriously brutal raider. He raided several fragments formerly under the control of dwellers of the Archipelago, and every time he struck he left behind little more than burnt carcasses and destroyed villages. His former crew is still Out There Somewhere, hungry for the blood of their captain who betrayed them.
Sickness (-1): Marlik is missing 2 fingers on his left hand, a reminder of trying to raid the wrong village.
The Church of Mist is a group of people from all walks of life who have sworn allegiance to Marlik and his teachings. They work to spread the faith of the Mists throughout the Archipelago.
A heretic within the Church of Mist, her group meets behind Marlik's back. Her teachings hold that those who do not believe in the Mist must be cast into them to see the error of their ways. She makes it her duty to do this to any who would oppose The Church.
