News is mainly distributed by the Guildhalls. Which act as general points of alcoholic revelry, coupled with trading posts and postal services. Recently, the guildhalls have begun receiving deliveries via horse pulled coaches.
WARNING, this is not a drill. Various Class 5 specimens have recently escaped from the custody of Vesper of the Milliners. These are extremely dangerous, possibly lethal. Do not attempt to approach or engage specimens. Evacuation of affected area is recommended.
The Crown of Unity have taken time away from their busy crusading schedule to host a banquet the likes of which the archipelago has never seen!
The event was in celebration of their recent victories over Clan Jacks and the Xenos menace. By all accounts, the Knights are as deadly at the dinner table as they are on the battle field, demonstrating the hospitality of the Crown to guests that included Vlad Kai Morlock, Al Daniels, and the famed Wandering Cyrus.
In these lean times, none could match the Order's spread!
Reports thunder around the Archipelago of raiders attacking clans during the night. Many are dead, and many more would be if not for the Knights of Unity.
This season has been one of bloodshed and fear! Clans across the archipelago have been attacked in the night by unknown Agents of Death! There is no rhyme or reason to the attacks but to destroy!
Children are dead! Storehouses are burned! The question on every honest man's lips is “Why!”
But one thing can be said: If not for the Crown of Unity, there would have been nothing to stop the more innocent of our number being wiped out! Lord Justinian's Knights have been patrolling the lands daily on the lookout for this menace, and have sent them packing more than once!
Lord Justinian himself was injured in the fighting, such is the selflessness of the man.
Tales as tall as those of laveer fly around the guildhalls about the storybook creature Augustin is supposed to have fought this season. Bards recount and exaggerate them to an incredulous crowd
“A single bead of sweat trickles down Augustin's brow as he drags himself back to his feet. The Black Knight of Unity looks down at him while his zombie minions draw closer. Cackling, he gloats!
”'Foolish mortal! Did you really think you could defeat the Dread Bone Lord Dolosian? Once you, the last of the Tirrani, have fallen there will be nothing to stand in my way! The Archipelago will be mine! Ahahahaha!'
”'Laugh not fiend!', counters our hero. 'For you hath yet to see my true power! The power of love!'
“As he speaks, his golder warhammer, handed to him by the gods themselves, begins to shine with a radiant light. The evil Knight's eyes widen at the sight of the only thing that can hurt him…
The Guildhalls need better bards.
Clans across the archipelago have found the strange winged serpents know as the Hareppi to be anything between a nuisance and a deadly threat
“So theres one of them, bold as brass, middle of my field, tearing up my crops and puttin' emin basket. They weren't even ripe, let alone his. I yells at it, and it jus' looks at me with this grin on its face like is havin' a birthday party.”
“So whatcha do?”
“Well, you know me. Never stood for thievin. I picks up me reliable spade, and start at it.”
“Oi! Ye can't do that! Those things breath fire or so I heard. What happened?”
“Don't know anythin' bout fire, but what do you think happened? It bloody flew away dint it! Took a weeks feed with it and all!”
“I heard over Sedlak way the things made off with a whole cow, and cooked the kid who was chasing them.”
“Well at least it weren't as bad as what happened to the Meade Traders. Heard they were pretty much fleeced by the things…”
“I mean, what we supposed to deal with these uns? You chase em, and they just fly off! You shoot em and they shoot back like a firestorm! They're wal… slithering aroun like they owns the place.”
“I mean whose to blame?”
“Damn Whilliskers int it? Weren't it them who made them fly?… Or so I heard.”
The Meade Trading Convocation have acquired a device to make large quantities of literature in a short space of time. With this printing press, they have started producing several books for the market, some of better quality than others.
The other day Rurik Rjanslaf and Guerra of the Milliners returned from a diplomatic mission to the Zwerginn fragment. They had been sent to negotiate the piece settlement between the Zwerginn and the archipelago. They returned with the news, the Zwerginn ambassador would again be making a visit to negotiate with all the clans of the archipelago.
Out of the Rjanslaf library religious pamphlets are incoming, they set down the religion of the orphaned gods, the most glorious and true of all the broken worlds’ religions. Already it has gained favour with the Crimson Shirts and the remnants of the Clearsky.
Again that Eugene Hackworth has been preparing to stack fragments. This times he has a fragment positioned ready for stacking; just what exactly is he doing? Mind you, it did seem pretty useful in fighting off those horrible Zwerginn things.
Wedding bells are ringing! In a small ceremony Galea Beeching and Eugene Sherlock Hackworth got married. Only members of the two clans were invited, and it cements the alliance formed between the Earthborne and the Milliners.
Sources say Galea looked fantastic in her Wedding outfit.
Sad news has reached the Guild houses. That fine warrior Wulf has met an unfortunate end. When returning to his home after a dispatch a sad fate befell the great warrior. Travelling back the knights were set upon by a bear of unusual size; witnesses say it was the size of a house. The great warrior rushed forward to protect his comrades, fighting with devotion to his cause the bear and Wulf were locked in epic battle, the brave warrior calling down lighning from the sky, but to no avail.
The sheer size of the bear meant Wulf was forced to the ground, his knights unable to do anything to stop the brave man from beng eaten.
I saw it there as it sufaced from the Mists, a marvel, a miracle of Art! It was a fragment, as big as any I've ever saw, but where they're normally blank, formless rock, this was covered in statues, the most beautiful statues you've ever seen. As I looked closer, I saw that the statues were of the brave leaders of our many clans; here was Justinian, standing bold and just above the corpses of his foul enemies; there was Cyrus, playing his music surrounded by talented apprentices; Raijin and Enki stood side by side, as brave explorers and brothers. In fact, every clan seems to have been represented, from the sombre and reclusive Brotherhood of Life and Dark to the outgoing and fun-loving Gogol Family. Whoever crafted this, I salute them as a true master of their Art!
The Tonga tournament happened this season. Partaking in this crazy form of sport were Alice’s lost children, the Sedlak’s, Overseer Sixus and a team of animal submitted by Prepatook.
The eventual winners were Alice’s lost children, however Overseer Sixus took the trophy in the trophy stealing round.
Grand Opening!
On the Gogol fragment a casino tent has been set up. Those who have attended have said there are many games of chance to choose from. Guerra of the Milliners in particular seems to be a regular patron.
Overseer Sixus and Timothy Bygone have been working together on the construction of semaphore towers. Tim has been working on the mechanisms, while Sixus has been building the Towers.
The new network will allow messages to be sent quickly across the length of the archipelago, and are set to revolutionise the sending and receiving of information.
The current network of Semaphore towers allows for messages to travel quickly between the Bygone Family, the Meade Trading Convocation and the Society of Moloch.
Eugene Hackworth and Pennington Deepcut have recently finished work on a strange device which they are naming life goggles. Apparently they show how much energy a fragment has, and thus allows geomancers to predict when they will fall into the mists. Ms. Deepcut has also been accredited for her recent works to make steel and her ongoing project to create a flying machine.
Written by Journalist Kemi Morloch:
Servius Tullius has set about connecting the Archipelago, his first construction was the road which now connects the home settlement of the Spequorii to the guildhall of the free masons. Where will this fine builder connect next?
The answer? The Spequorii have built roads connecting together the Legion of Unity, the Red Knives, the Rodesh'Mise and the new settlement built on what was the previously Dal'Tanian land.
Maybe this is chance for a proper transport network to be set up around the archipelago instead of the crude tracks currently in place.
It has been reported that a man who looks an awful lot like Overseer Sixus, but without the mask, has been running around the Guildhalls telling everyone that the Society of Moloch are all evil. It doesn't seem to make any sense at all, unless he has a twin brother out to ruin him.
Also large holes bored straight through the fragment have been appearing all over the Archipelago, with now explanation as to how they got there. They seem to have mist slowly creeping up through them, but there rough interiors mean that so far no-body who has fallen in haven't been able to climb back out.
The bright light that had shone from a tiny fragment blinked off, like a flame being extinguished. Close observers noticed that the whole thing was swathed in Mist. Imperceptibly, the nearby fragments started moving away from it.
Written by Jaq of Clan Watson:
Overseer Sixus of the Society of Moloch is a wonderous being.
Why, you ask?
Because he has found that if our children wear Copper Masks over their faces they can never be dragged off into that awful swamp of Lost Alice's Children, and have their minds changed.
The Guildhalls have now starting to sell bottled medicine alongside bottled beer. The medicine has been supplied by the Order of Amethyst and is being sold by the Meade Trading Convocation.
For people too cheap to afford proper news coverage, every guildhall has a Notice Board.
