Union News Turn 1

Corruption in the Union

A general feeling which seems to be held by many low ranking people in the Union, discussed at length in the Guildhalls.

There has been continued muttering about corruption in the Union, corrupt officials skimming off a bit for themselves.

“Did you hear that more than half our taxes make it into the pockets of the high ups? It makes me mad to think of my hard earned used to grease the cogs of civilisation.”

“I heard one of the legion generals had a life size vessel of himself made out of glass ore, and filled it with Al’s Finest Beer.”

There are however hopes that newly appointed officials will see that corruption is stamped out, or at least cut back to more acceptable levels.

Pillars of the Legion

A news article widely distributed through the Guildhalls.

We should be grateful for the dutiful efforts of our generals. The Legion is at great strength, the Storm Academy mages have been developing well, and most of the time they seem to be able to hit the target, (setting the barracks on fire seems to have been a one off occurrence). Department S also seems to be particularly active, and citizens should be comforted that they are keeping us safe from spies and other undesirables.

Freedom in the Union

Pamphlets distributed in the guildhalls.

The New Dawn Party is always looking for members. It is the home of Democracy in the Union, and listens to the common man. United behind a sole cause the New Dawn brings happiness to all they touch.

Open Council

An Official Announcement in the Guildhalls

The Open Council will be meeting soon, and would like to hear proposals for discussion. Any member of the Union is free to propose a bill, and every clan has a vote. The vote will be held in a season's time1). Particularly high on the agenda is voting in a replacement for the sadly departed Chancellor of the College, though most confidently expect his successor as Chancellor to enter his old seat in the council.

Crime at a New Low!

The Office of Marshalls has been doing sterling work in recent months; hideous fiends like the Ripper of the Necropolis are safely put away and the Marshalls respected wherever they go. Word on the street is that organised crime is running scared, laying low and trying to avoid notice of the Marshalls.

Death of a Great Man

Obituaries are appearing in several publications of the recently deceased Chancellor.

”…they say it was quite painless, though how they knew was beyond me…”

”…the tragedy is he was just about to publish his research into the Spirits. After putting twenty years of effort into it, I hope someone can step in and make sure it gets published…”

”…as Vice-Chancellor Bastian Velen steps in to Chancellor Fox's shoes, there are already rumours that he plans sweeping changes…”
