====== Geomancy ====== This is the technology used to modify the movement of fragments. By applying formulae, digging trenches, placing weights and much more esoteric measures, the geomancer can to a large degree coerce his fragment into going wherever he wants. Geomancers serve a vitally important role in the community, as fragments will often been guided close to each other for trading, socialising and raiding, or moved away from storms, the mist, or indeed raiders. ===== Is Geomancy A Magic? ===== While Geomancy has effects magical in nature (making chunks of rock fly), it is in practice much more similar to the study skills such as technology and architecture. This is because, just like an engineer or an architect, the geomancer acheives his goals by applying scientific priciples and developing new methods, rather than performing incantations or entreating mysterious powers. Thus it straddles the two, having the effects of a mage but the mindset of a scientist. ==== Progression ==== Reflecting its more scientific nature, Geomancy progresses just like a skill; it has three ranks which can be bought using character generation points or TP. At game start you will be able to do the following: ^Rank^What You Can Do^ | 1 |Gradually alter a fragment's direction of movement - 4BP. | | 2 |Change a fragment's elevation, halt its movement temporarily - 8BP. | | 3 |Speed up or slow down a fragment - 12BP. | ====Suggestions of what you could develop==== * A structure to ward off fragments (or attract them) * A way of measuring and bolstering your fragment's health. * A more refined measure of control * Getting small pieces of rock to float and move fast towards enemies.
