The fame of the Union spymaster lasted long after his death, and his shadowy form became remembered as a bogeyman to frighten children into telling the truth and not keeping secrets. Indeed the Eye of Atticus, missing from his corpse, was fabled to be a powerful artifact associeated with secrets, darkness and trecheary.
